The Linksys iPhone CIT300 phone is a cordless handset which is now available for Skype users. The cordless Dual- Mode Internet kit features a charger, handset , and a USB base station that can be connected to any personal computer. With the dual mode system, one can choose whether to use the normal telephone line (also known as landline) or Skype in making phone calls. Using the handset, one can view the directory and select the numbers one would like to call. The handset supports Skype Out dialing (which allows you to use Skype to call mobile phones) and also the Skype contact list. When a call is coming in, the handset will just ring and display the caller’s registered name on the screen. Along with the features mentioned, it also has the two common options – voicemail and call waiting. There are also other choices one can have when having a call. They are the mute button for making discreet calls, and the loud speaker function for letting anybody join in the conversation. The Linksys iPhone lets one have the chance to choose whether to make phone calls to other Skype users or others who are using the standard telephone line. Another feature of this telephone kit is the high- quality voice reception courtesy of Skype on the PC without being near the computer.
The Positive Point:
I really didn’t know anything about Skype before I got one myself, connected it to the PC, and made a very clear call via the internet for a very cheap price. When I was looking for a cordless phone so I could make phone calls even when I’m sitting on a sofa and away from my computer, I found this cordless iPhone by Linksys. With this, I can now call and talk anywhere. It even has a speaker which is loud enough for other people to participate in a conference.
I chose this phone so I can use it when I call to other countries and it was so great that I have made up my mind to use it as a business phone. I can also bring the phone with me when I get out of the office. Although it works fine using wireless connection, the best way that I could make it work is to connect it to a personal computer with a cord –which I have no problem doing. I have used it in many ways and places like hotels and department stores. Because I can pre assign specific ringtones for every caller, without even looking at the screen, I can tell who the caller is and whether the call is business or personal.
The Negative Point:
The Linksys USB VoIP phone used to be a really good phone in the past, but there are many phones (even more high-tech ones) nowadays that are of course better than this phone. If the manufacturer can put the new functions of the newer phones into the Linksys CIT300, I’ll never think twice about buying this phone.
